With the advancement of our society and the development of our country's politics, economy and science, the need for persons with ability is on the rise. In order to cultivate the type of persons our society needs, educators in our country begins to think about the problems exist in our country's traditional style of education. At the same time the objectives of our country's education also converts from focusing on knowledge teaching to students' creative thinking and students' creativity fostering. Individuation education is becoming one of the main concerns of educators and even the whole society in our country. Nowadays it has become a main task of our country's education how to carry out education according to different students' characteristics and their different individuality and their different capacity. Chinese educators begin to concern about how to stimulate the mature of students' character and how to develop their ability.College English teaching in our country has undergone three important periods: The first period is from the year 1980 to the year 1999. In this period the main objective of English teaching was to teach students grammar and some basic reading skills. At that time the speed required in the syllabus was not very high. This teaching objective is mainly influenced by the traditional teaching method in foreign language teaching —"Grammar and Translation" method. And the teaching model in this period was: teachers' main task was to teach students some fundamental knowledge and students' main task was to digest what teachers taught in class. The second period is from 1999 to 2003. In this period the main objective of College English teaching was to develop students' reading ability and some basic listening comprehension and oral skills. On one hand, this objective was influenced by the foreign language teaching practice in the world; and on the other hand, is the reflection of the need of our country's reforms and interaction with foreign countries. The third period is from 2003 till present. And the main English teaching objective in this period is to develop students' listening, speaking, reading and translating skills. And it is required that students' main status in teaching and learning should be presented through teachers interaction with students in class.
