In the time of Chun Qiu and Zhan Guo, China was in greatly disorder. So lots of Pre-Qin Period Philosophers appeared, they want to save China by their learings. Their thoughts were reasonable in a certain sense or aspect, but were not comprehensive by reason of some limits. Tian xia · Zhuangzi and Criticism of 12 philosophers · Xunzi are the first time that summarized various learings, the two writers expressed their opinions in there angles. That may be called the earlist history of Chinese philosophy. Tian xia narrated: "Learning of ancient Sages were encyclopedical and profound. They imitated rules of universe to nurture everything on earth and make them harmonious which benefit for common people. Sages made acquainted with both ultimately rules and idiographic laws." It means that Sages have high wisdom and virtues. They not only investigate things to exhaustively pursue principle but led to the completion of other men by self-completion. The truth known by Sages were called "Ancient Tao and Shu", "Tao" was prime principle, "Shu" represented "Tao". Compared with "ancient Tao and Shu", the learnings of Philosophers in Pre-Qin Period were not comprehensive, facing the ancient sages the Pre-Qin Period Philosophers were prejudiced.
