The paper analyzes deeply how painter Huang Shen, one of "Eight Eccentrics of Yangzhou" in mid- Qing dynasty painted creatively his works with cursive, and how to display the beauty among the common people by painting the common people and folklore, and also discusses the differences among different painters who belonged to same school of figure painting. The paper discusses how he acclimatized himself to the market of commodity economy of the time with diversity and innovation, and shaped his own painting style of freehand brushwork. gets a conclusion that he innovated a new drawing style of figures between traditional Chinese realistic painting and folklore painting- the figure paintings by freehand brushwork (characterized by vivid expression and bold outline).
