Reading is the mental process that reader decodes and obtains information, draws the meaning to spoken and written languages material that vision input into. Cognitive psychology thinks that read not merely includes the written language one is reading, but also the reading of forms such as the illustration, vision, etc. From the production terms on the effect of the illustration, influence factors in read understanding, and the progress of studying both at home and abroad at present is watched, we can't find a research can involve these factors, such as the way and the position of words and illustration appearing & field cognitive type.This article carried on the brief review to the domestic and foreign research, and studied the way and position of words and illustration and field cognitive type how to influence reading by two experiments. This research obtained the following results:(1) There are obvious differences between the ways of appearing in score, time and effect. The best way is words combined color illustration. The worst way is illustration only.(2) It is better to combine words and illustration than apart them.(3) There are obvious difference between field cognitive type in two reading index. The reading time and effect of independent subjects for words only are better than dependent subjects, same in reading time for illustration only.(4) Words and illustration set in horizon direction is better than in vertical direction.(5) There are obvious differences between the positions of appearing in score, time and effect. Illustration located at the right of words is best. Up and down are not good positions.(6) When illustration located at the above of words, dependent subjects are worse than independent subject in reading time. The reading time is lest when illustration is at right and most when illustration is up for dependent subjects.(7) Combining words and illustration and locating them in horizon direction can help dependent subjects more than independent subjects.Above results and its meaning to design and teaching of illustration are discussed deeply at the last part.
