This paper focuses on the topic how does image, which have been taken for symbol of communication to make influence to the development of mass culture. Firstly, by a brief introduction of mass culture, analysis of its characteristics, and interpreting its function of human's communication symbol, and analyzing the function of image symbol in mass culture construction in the following aspect: economic, culture, art, entertainment, this paper tries to clear the dialectic relationship of the function of image with other human communication symbol like mass culture, and other categories of culture to make some beneficial apocalypse to the development of modern mass culture .The phenomenon which is regarded as culture industry by School of Frankfurt reveals its relationship with mass industry. It also shows us the intimate relationship, the birth and development of mass culture with mass communication media. As a kind of culture which relates to lots of mass communication media, undoubtedly, mass culture is different to mainstream culture and elite culture. Its contributions do not lay on the aspect that it will substitute traditional mainstream culture and elite culture, but to accustom to the market, development of technology, globalization, and the transformation of live fashion. Besides the traditional aesthetics, culture interests, there lay another new trend of aesthetics and culture interests. The birth of mass culture plays an important role in the transition of culture, so it sets another polar for conformation of the 20'c culture.Mass culture has obvious characteristics of visualization. Different to the former traditional culture which emphasizes text communication and sensitivity, mass culture pays more attention to the image communication and sensitivity. Suppose that the former culture tradition is readable, so we can conclude that mass culture is visible. Nowadays, when our life permeated by various images, great influences made by images work on out life is obvious which cover from economics, culture, art, to entertainment, fashion.
