On The Relationship Between Emotional And Vocal Skills

Emotion and skill among vocal music is a dialectical relation, which is basic knowledge that every vocal music learner has to know and master. Emotional expression is final aim and meaning to skill. And effect of skill is method of emotional expression. Relation between them is principal and subordinate, which cannot be reversed. During practice, it is incorrect for every vocal music learner to invariably emphasize emotion of singing and ignore skill. And it is the same with the reverse. This paper doesn't deny that vocal music skill has independent sense of appreciation of the beautiful. However, as an independent subject studied and researched, it is realized that vocal music art is an organic whole. Surely, as there are more difficult and more complicated phrases and paragraphs in works on vocal music, it is necessary for vocal music learner to deal with skill and concentrate on use of skill. They both are not contradictory. In the process of practice, vocal music learner should practice by phase and by step under the guidance of teachers. Although it is common that practice on sound production is stressed at the expense of emotion during the basic training, awareness of the whole singing must be strengthened, which can be realized that sound production of singing and emotional expression are simultaneously in progress. And then sound, phrase and emotion integrates together. Therefore, in the process of performance on stage, song of annotation and expression of emotion must be more concentrated. At the same time, perfect integration of emotion and skill can be reached by conscious training of skill and emotionalexpression.
