This concert holds great significance for a music student. Through careful preparation for this performance, I not only further impioved my singing skills and gained a better understanding of my strengths and weaknesses in singing, I also had a deeper understanding and did a more thorough analysis of the chosen piece and started training and study with a clearer objective in mind so as to demonstrate my singing style from multiple angles. I also reviewed my grades in the past three years and made a preliminary analysis of the possible problems that might arise during the concert and included the latest development regarding this event in this thesis. This paper is divided in four chapters. The first is about the arrangement of the songs and the composers. The second chapter, which is the core of this thesis, will be divided into4parts with each focused on one song from the concert. Each number has a characteristic of its own and is given a detailed analysis, added in the author’s own understanding based on her singing style. The first is an introduction of the artistic songs and innovative songs. The second is about the Chinese ethnic minority songs, the third is an introduction of folk songs of different regions. The fourth is about the finest Chinese opera episodes.During my preparation, I gained a deep understanding of each song. Prof.Yixuan YU, he pre-eminent music educator, once said:Artistry will elude you if you have no knowledge of or lack understanding about the music you are performing. Therefore, whether in application of the techniques or the expression of emotion, the author tries to give a best performance of songs of different genre through different approaches.
