In the 1990s, morals and ideal were banished by the mercilessness among the culture linguistic context. Zhang Wei is deeply in love with the ideal spirit。In his works, he has launched a series of problems about spirit ideal question. With resistant will and surmountable feelings, he has reached literary works which arouses basic concerned of question in human survival. In Zhang Wei's works, narration is led by spirit and narration mode is spirit mode to some extent. Therefore, to study the narration mode and the spirit inquiry is a way getting to Zhang Wei. Zhang Wei is good at carrying on pursuing ideal spirit and questioning the meaning of surviving in the novel, this inclination is reflected obviously in a series of novels in the 1990s. This text will focus on a series of novels in the 1990s, start with the narration mode of the novels, analyze spirit leading elements behind the narration, and probe into two aspects of spirit inquiry, that is the idea wild geography and the question to ultimate. The article is divided into two parts.PartⅠis to sum up and analyze three kinds of narration modes. That is resistance, roaming and homecoming. It analyzes spiritual intension of the three modes. The narration mode is a spiritual mode so as to inquiring and interrogate mode. Behind resistance is the terribly spirit thirsty, roaming is to seek getting rid of spirit, homecoming point to converting to spirit.Resistant mode has three respects: The opposition of personages, urban and rural dialogue which can be analyzed from three aspects, namely the dialogue between history and reality, the dialogue between narrator " I " and the former generation .The roaming mode is analyzed from two respects: Vagrant form and vagrant meaning. Roaming is a away of seeking spiritual home by banishing body and mind.Homecoming mode is to seek spirit. For vagrants, returning to the hometown has the meaning of converting to spirit. The movement of returning to hometown is repeated, while in fact it can't really be finished . The tramp has to fall into the roaming without ending forever.Part II mainly analyzes Zhang Wei's spirit inquiry, its origin and meaning in the works. Inquiry involves two aspects, named the ideal of wild and existence. The wild is unable to really " incorporate ", the spirit falls into nothing. Then in " homeless " state, Zhang Wei falls into questioning ultimate problem. "who am I? ""Where do I come from? ""Where will I go? "These are existentialism questions which are all included in the writer's vision. In the part of questioning ultimately, the thesis mainly analyzes three themes of Zhang Wei's novel: People, nature and roaming. Combine all the existentialism meanings in Zhang Wei's novels, we can find that all his works pay close attention to mankind existence. In the Genesis part, the thesis explains the reason why Zhang Wei carried on spirit inquiry from two respects, the external culture linguistic context and the inherent experience and temperament. In the meaning part, the thesis mainly described two realistic meaning and limitation. Zhang Wei's consistent serious spirit inquiry has been offering estimable thought resources for this noisy era. Meanwhile, it is a way that the intellectual confirms oneself. However, too devoted to spirit inquiry makes the writer neglect the extended personality and influenced the open-up of the aesthetic intension of the novel.
