As an important category in archaic aesthetic of China, Materialization emphasizesthe unification between the self and the object in aesthetic composition, which is thehighest level of the development of the literature. There was a long way fromMaterialization's being put forth, evolution until its autumn, and in this process manyfamous theories and productions were obtained. But in this investigation process,most investigators put their eyes on Zhuangzi, although there still were many papersdiscussing the problem with the philosophic view and in certain or some questions.These dissertations were rigor, we find it a better way study such topic using not onlyphilosophic view but also aesthetic view. There are so many things we need to knowabout it, such as its connotation, its extension, its characteristic, its phylogeny and itsworthiness and significance, etc. In this article we make our efforts to change thisstatus quo and denominate a heading as Materialization in the archaic aesthetic ofChina. We review this category from its own development course, by doing so, wecan not only sleave the relationships between Materialization and other interrelatedcategories, but also can appraise Materialization's significant burden in the academeof China. Consequently, we hope our study can impel the progress of the archaicaesthetic of China, and can do some help in perfecting the system of the up-to-dateaesthetic of China.This paper consists of five parts:1. Preface. This part tries to discuss the status quo, aim, significance and the methodusing in Materialization study.2. Materialization's connotation and extension. In philosophy, Materializationmeans in virtue of work and practice human's thinking translating into realisticpresence;in literature,it represents the third stage of literary creation, from whichthe course makes one's idea into concrete words on papers;in aesthetic,Materialization emphasizes the unification between the self and the object inaesthetic composition. Materialization has profuse extensions, in this paper we tryto circumscribe it by comparing Materialization with Ganxing, Apotheosis,Imagination and Sensibility, which can be a try in elucidatory technique.3. The phylogeny of Materialization in the archaic aesthetic of China. Manystudents regard Zhuangzi as the headstream of Materialization, actually the realheadstream is Laozi's concept of Trance. Zhuangzi raises Materialization formallyfor the first time, and he also analyzes it accurately;Zhuang's expatiation unbarrsthe development of Materialization. During Han dynasty and Weijin period,consciousness on literature impulses system info's consummation, andMaterialization developed quickly. Theoreticians and framers in Tang and Songdynasty pay their attention to practicality of the theory;they dissertateMaterialization from the creature itself and deepened the academic meaning ofMaterialization. Theoreticians in Ming and Qing dynasty pay much moreattention to the experiences of write, they consult themselves' write experiences orothers' creatures, some of their theories consummated Materialization.4. Materialization's aesthetic characteristic and its philosophy and aesthetics basis.On the basis hackling Materialization's connotation, extension and phylogeny, wegeneralize Materialization's characteristics as "xenial mix, one integrated mass"(物我两忘,浑然一体)and "look-in alternatives using themselves' visual anglein order to research into the truth"(以物观物,探出精髓). "The coalescentbetween the nature and the human beings" (天人合一)has passed through twoperiods, which divert from the coalesce between human being's ideology and thenature to the interaction in the nature itself . And the latter one really is the pointthis thesis is discussing.5. Materialization's worthiness and significance. Materialization is a comprehensivecategory and its force is far and wide. Materialization materializes the rule ofliterature, and it influences not only on the painting, the poesy and the fiction inarchaic China but also on the system of the up-to-date aesthetic and literarycomposition.
