Uniforms Significance Of A Preliminary Study

A school uniform, which is the oppsite of the border affirmation and classification of the student group's culture status in the whole society, stresses the border of group classification instead of the individual superiority complex. It shows its importance by means of its attribute and function which exert a positive influence on students' spirit and school culture. As a recessive form of education, it differs from the dominant character of classroom instruction because its subtle impact on students shows up as time passes by.However , in the several decades when uniforms are popular in our primary and middle schools, uniform-wearing gradually deviates from its original intention although uniforms are considered as the carrier related to schools and students. The primary reasons leading to the result are summarized as follows: uniform-wearing is mandatory when government guidance turns into the orders from the local education departments or schools; the market fair principle is disrupted because the persons who are in charge of the right to select and popularize the school uniforms intervene with its production; the relationship of interest conspire is built up between the manufactors and the persons who have the right to popularize uniforms due to the inferior and high-price dress and mandatory spreading; the problems with regard to surveillance mechanism are serious because almost nobody supervises its quality and serious corruption.A series of facts disclosed during the twenty years when uniforms are popular at schools, have overturned those instructors' reliability and model role such as "inconsistent rules and practice", "mandatory uniform-wearing", "corruption cases', "instructors' corruption deeds", "frequent reports concerning inferior uniforms" etc. And its fuction has had a negative impact on students. All in all, the twenty years' history of uniform-wearing in China can be regarded as a course along which students lose their trust on our society.
