| The educational modernization of India 's development mainly separate into two phases: the colony phase and the independence phase, the education modernization of India start from the colony period, and separate into three periods: the transition from traditional education to modern education (1498-the beginning of the19th century); the establishment of Indian colony education system (the beginning of the 19th century -the beginning of the 20th century); the rise and development of national education (the beginning of 20th sentury-1947).After independence in 1947,Indian education enter a new phase of it's total development. This phase can be divided into four periods according to different educational policies in different periods, including: Jawaharlal. Nehru period (1947-1964); Lal.Bahadur.shastri(1964-1966) and Indira.Gandhi period (1966-1977) (1980-1984) ; Rajiv . Gandhi period (1984-1989); the nineties to the present. Because of the development in the two phases, education system of India has inclined to perfection and reap rich fruits. The modernity of Indian education mainly manifest from five aspects: first is flexibly and perfectly educational system of organization; second is comparatively sound system; third is the secularity, the impartiality and the democracy of Indian education ;the fourth is the education internationalization; the fifth is the modern education of India promote the economy and society's development effectively. Although Indian education have achieved much progress, because of historical and real reasons, many problems of Indian education remained to be solved. Such as, the decedent level of internal talent; brain drain; excessive illiterates; unbalances of educational development etc. The thesis discuss the development of India education , the characteristic of modernization, it's achievements and problems. I wish the thesis can help us to recognize Indian education, know it's history and it's present situation. I also wish we can found some regularities in the process of educational development, and have some uses for reference for our educational reform and educational modernization of our country. |
