The Cultural Dynamics Of Social Development

Culture is a very important phenomenon in human society. The concept of culture in broad sense, i.e. so-called grand culture, refers to all the activities and their achievements that human being has made in changing the objective world and remoulding its subjective world, including two types ----material culture and spiritual culture. Material culture is the culture of human being which is embodied by material activities and their achievements, while spiritual culture is displayed by spiritual activities and their achievement. Usually we mean the narrowly-defined cultural concept, namely spiritual culture, when we talk about so-called "culture" . According to the report to the 15th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, culture is as to economy and politics, while spiritual culture is as to material culture. With the improvement of the consciousness of mankind's creating history and the advancement of modern science and technology, the importance and role of spiritual culture is being paid more and more attention to. Spiritual culture has increasingly turned from summarizing history into "fore-seeing " the existing being, which makes every effort to "surmount" the existing being and predict the development of things and the future of our society, offering scientific guide for mankind's social activities. The impetus of culture for economy, society and people's development in an all-round way is getting more and more prominent. This article attempts to study the theory origin, structure and function of cultural motive force, to analyse the current situation of the development of cultural motive force in the primary stage of socialism, and put forward the author's ideas on how to strengthen the cultural motive force in primary stage of socialism.This article is divided into five parts in all.In the first part, the basic conceptions involved in the article are defined, and the realistic meaning to study cultural motive force theory is illustrated. The basic conceptions are culture and culture motive force. Culture has two types of broad senseand narrow sense. Culture in this article refers to narrowly-defined culture, namely the ideas that exist in social superstructure and the production and life in the spiritual field corresponding to economy and politics. In the academia the concept of cultural motive force has a lot of statements, such as " cultural strength " , " cultural ability " , " cultural productivity " ," culture national power " ,etc. The author summarizes the various statements in the academia, concluding that cultural motive force is the impetus, which is offered by the activities in people's spiritual field and their achievements, for the activities of mankind and the development of the society. In the world today, science & technology and knowledge economy are developing rapidly, and the globalization is being increasingly strengthened. China is trying to establish socialism market economy system. It is undoubtedly of great importance for us to study the basic theories of cultural motive force.In the second part, the theory origin of cultural motive force is dealt with. The cultural motive force theory is an important component in the social development motive force theory of Marxism. With the rapid development of knowledge economy and the prominent function of science and technology, the function of cultural motive force is being attached much more importance to. The Marxist social development dynamical system is a dynamic development system which includes a lot of factors. It is the joint efforts of these factors that have given great impetus to the development of human society from low form of life to higher mammals and advanced civilization, just as seas change into mulberry fields. The cultural motive force theory derives from the motive force theory of the social development. This article has summarized its origin from three respects: Firstly, spiritual culture can speed up the development of the economy and politics. Secondly, the function of spiritual productivity has a character of getting more and more prominent.
