Korsch is considered as the most important representatives of Western Marxism living at the same time as Lukacs and Gramsci. His major work "Marxism and Philosophy", together with Lukacs's "History and Class Consciousness" is regarded as the "Bible" of Western Marxism. Korsch has a rarely brilliant understanding of Marxis', Engles' and classical bourgeois theorists' works. His works were once viewed as the most correct, just and contemporary model. There were dramatic changes in his ideas all his life. At first, his theory was combined with the worker class' practical struggle, then it changed from Fabianism to dialectical Hegelian Marxism, and finally he began to spare no efforts to criticize Leninism, and deviated from communist as a free criticizer at last Owing to this, he is also considered as the most interesting, original and changeable person. Korsch has touched on many fields in philosophy, law, economics, politics and sociology at which he is pretty good. His main works include "Marxism and Philosophy" and "Karl Marx".Korsch criticized the orthodox Marxism of the Second Community and Lenin's materialistic philosophy, and elaborated bis "Theory of Totality". Korsch met the necessity of the worker class's revolutionary movement, restored Marxism's dialectical nature of theory and practice as a unity, and summed up the fundamental characteristics of Marxism. From the angle of the unity of theory and practice, Korsch came up with his "three stages" on the development of Marxism, expounded his view on Marxism further, analyzed the reason why Marxism has been distorted and viewed Marxism as a live total theory of social revolution. Although it stresses on the function of subjective action and ideology, it does have an indispensable meaning for us to realize the real nature of Marxism, study further, stick to and develop Marxism.
