The Rise Of White-collar Workers And Contemporary Western Society Changes

After the world war two, the western capitalist society took place great changes, and the research in contemporary capitalism has become a hot problem in the academic circles. This dissertation with a view of the developmental history of labor " and " the developmental history of individual power" will be concentrated on the rising new laborers — white collar. It is in the rising process of white collar that we will search for the basic motive and main contents of the contemporary western society's changes. On the basis of it, we will give the outlook to the future of western social development. This dissertation is totally divided into four chapters.The first chapter firstly introduces the condition of the research of western academia and sums up three disputed issues. Under the guidance of the materialism of history, we then put forward our own views on the three issues. In the end, we point out the research of the contemporary western academic circles is only limited to the abstract theories, and could not connect the growth of white collar with the changes of contemporary western societies from an angle of history development.The second chapter primarily investigated the reason of white collar's rising after the second war. Firstly, we explore the great effect of the increase of productive power on the occupational structure and industrial structure in western societies. We think it is the basic reason of the rising of white collar. Secondly, we then respectively investigated the influence of "the Manager's revolution", "the expanding of national bureaucratic organizations", "the feminist movement", and "the technical revolution" in the rising of white collar.The third chapter firstly investigates the condition of white collar's income, education, employment, and the social activity, and then explores the effect of white collar's rising on the contemporary western economy. Here we pay more attention to the change of the difference in the industrial structure and the gap between the rich and poor.The fourth chapter mainly explores the effect of white collar's rising on the change of contemporary western politics. Firstly, we investigate the influence of white collar's growth in the way of the labor's struggling. Secondly, we investigate the inner relation between the white collar's growth and party politics in contemporary western societies. Here we are more concentrated on the change of foundation of voters of post-war" left" and " right" political party and the change of the ruling position of the two parties.Finally, we prospect the future of contemporary western societies according to the effect of white collar's rising on the contemporary western capitalism. The article explains with this the growth of white collar is the result of accumulation of labor's individual power. And the effect of white collar's growth on the contemporary western capitalism expresses the advanced capitalism is in the imperceptible process of transition to socialism. It is a really" historical process of nature ".
