Pure Love, Affliction, Goods, Sadness

This thesis is mainly concerned with the scriptwriting of Romance Films of Korea since the late 90s. This thesis attempts to utilize the worldwide scriptwriting theories to investigate this issue. In the detailed discussion, the author mainly focuses on Plot Mode, Time and Space Identity, Character Building, in order to find out the identity of storytelling style in Korea Romance. The author indicates that, the Romance Films of Korea have formed their unique storytelling style—which named Trivialized Romance in this thesis. And Romance Films of Korea have presented certain narrative and aesthetic characteristics, which include Pure Love, Bitter Love and Object Grieving. The Romance Films of Korea hence infuse the elements from classic to modern, from east to west, from popularity to tradition and present a particular view of diverse culture.
