In the last ten years of Qing Dynasty, the popular rebellion surged forward, which formed a kind of phenomenon attracting people's attention very much, and had aggravated the complicated turbulence of the social situation. Study on popular rebellion began formally after the founding of PRC, but has not formed the special research field yet so far. The part of the introduction reviews the past research results, and defines the concept of "Popular Rebellion". Based on "Chronological Table of Popular Rebellion of The Late Qing Dynasty", Chapter one carries on statistic of classification to the popular rebellion of the late Qing Dynasty, which includes the year distribution, province distribution, the fuse of popular rebellion, struggle forms and statistics alone in Jiangsu Province, for making objective and strong description to the overall view of the popular rebellion of the last ten years of Qing Dynasty. Analyzing the deep economic reason of the popular rebellion of the last ten years of Qing Dynasty, Chapter two proves that Qing Government's serious financial crisis brought endless taxes, in addition of expanded local power, taxes disturbed the people severely and cause people's great discontent, which buried most heavy hidden danger for popular rebellion. Chapter three is the holistic describing of how Qing Government dealt with popular rebellion. Popular rebellion had the essential distinction with insurgence in the eyes of Qing Government, and what Qing Government worried about most was the popular rebellion to turn into the insurgence. Qing Government's reply included two parts-- the general course and the interdynamic, the former concentrates on the difference between "putting down" and "pacifying", the latter the involves three major colonies in popular rebellion-- people, government and gentry. In the course of replying, though the Qing Government had spent much strength, the result was unsatisfactory. The part of the conclusion described the social influence of the popular rebellion of the late Qing Dynasty. Generally speaking, the extensive, frequent situation of the popular rebellion reflected extorting excessive taxes and political corruption of the Qing Government, and the Qing Government itself was unable solve this social concern, which caused contradictions deeper and deeper, and aggravated the outburst of the reign crisis.
