The monasteries of Dunhuang are not the normal monasteries that are isolated from the society, but participate in the public business actively, become a opening space of religion that get on with the society, and have the character of human narure and customs. (Luo Tong -hua said) this paper takes Pure-land Monastery for example to discuss the come-and-go relation with a variety of social strata as well as the different races at that time.1.The Economic Association among Pure-land Monastery and Du-si and other Monasteries during Guiyijun PeriodHaving discussed the economic association among it and Du-si (including the monk officers) and other monasteries (including the monks) from the income and outcome of Pure-land Monastery during Guiyijun Period, the author draws a conclusion that the Buddhist group is a integrated organism, Pure-land Monastery keep in touch with Du-si and other monasteries in economy, however, besides borrow-and-lend association, Pure-land Monastery has a duty on the Buddhist group and communication with others in ritual economy insdead of reciprocal trade.2. Pure-land Monastery is under a Social Obligation to the Government of GuiyijunPure-land Monastery is under the control of the Government of Guiyijun, and get on with it in many aspects. The author analyses the social obligation that Pure-land Monastery shoulders to the government of Guiyijun, including burden of finance, religious diplomacy, public service, and the Confucianism education. It is not isolated from the society, but participates in much public business of the government. It is closed with the official at all level and serves the government in special ways.3.The Relationship of Pure-land Monastery with Sogdians and other Ethnic MinoritiesDunhuang lies in traffic junction among Chinese and northwest national minorities and Central Asia.The Hans and the non-Han nationalities live together. There is a closed relation of Pure-land Monastery with Sogdians and other Ethnic Minorities, such as Longjia, Tuyuhun, Tiele, Tatar, Nanshan and so on during the Late Tang'Five Dynasties and the Early Song, especially in the economic association. The life style of the non-Han nationalities has an important influnce on the monks of Pure-land Monastery.
