This paper has analysis and research the resident property income and expenditure, social function and the Buddhist nuns'economic situation of Dunhuang Buddhist nunneries.Firstly, at the side of the resident property income, the revenue channels of the Buddhist nunneries are narrow. The tenancy of land and factory is the manila Buddhist nunneries'revenue; give in religious charity also the other side of the Buddhist nunneries'revenue. Compare with the Buddhist monk temple, the loan-sharking is more active than the Buddhist nunneries. The income means of Buddhist nunneries are more traditional. Buddhist nunneries earned the categories of goods are more monotonous, including food crops, oil, cloth and other products. Buddhist nunneries can gain very little income, because their lower status in the temple organizations. And people don't have enough attention and trust among the public awareness of the general belief. On the expenditure side, the Buddhist nunneries main spending are the protect their own land and workshop operators.Secondly this paper has discussed the religious and social functions of the Dunhuang Buddhist nunneries.Finally, this paper has analysis the nuns'income conditions, that their life is difficult, most of them only can maintain the most basic needs of life.
