With the development of globalization, Chinese socialist market economy is making great progress. While promoting prosperity in China, the reform of commodity economy has also brought spiritual crisis to Chinese people. Chinese literature has fallen into certain predicament since the 1990s. And this is heavy responsibility that contemporary literary criticism bears too.This thesis is divided into three parts.The first part analyzes the background meaning and concept of humanism. This part puts forward the background and meaning of discussion of humanism. How to set up good relation with market economy in humanism, the intellectual's reorientation, and rebuilding the function of criticizing, are realistic meaning of this discussion of humanism. Then the thesis defines the meaning of humanism. First, the thesis investigates what is meant by humanism question, differentiating and analyzing several groups and humanism relevant concepts. Then this part expounds the fact that humanism antagonistic to common customs spirit, humanism rebuilding traditional antagonistic to western orientation in, the differences of loss and cover of humanism form triple focuses of controversy. At last the thesis confirms the basic meaning of humanism, which is divided into five levels: Life level, survive state level, asking-for-kind level, looking-for-the-truth level, asking-for-the-beauty level. Humanism in literature should be still more extensive, more abundant.The second part expounds the behavior of the loss of humanism of Chinese literature since the 1990s: Firstly, packing profiteering activities and catering to the readership's poor taste.
