These two synonyms do have similarities, but they still have differences .So this thesis makes a fairly exhaustive comparative study from the aspect of ontology. The thesis is consisting of the following four parts in addition to a conclusion.At first the thesis introduces the motivation and the questions we will study.In Chapter One, the thesis reviews the existing studies of prepositions "cong" and "you" , which are summarized into six aspects. As the result of the impetus of this reviewing, this part then investigates the problems of and makes evaluation about the existing studies.Chapter Two compares the grammatical functions of the prepositions "cong" and "you" from three aspects: (1) the contrast in syntax, which includes the two prepositions' syntactic collocations and functions; (2) the comparison in semantics, in which we firstly classify their semantics respectively, then find some semantic overlapping that still contain differences; (3) the comparison of pragmatics, in which they are different in stylistics and the frequency of people' s using of them.As the conclusion part of this thesis, Chapter Three concludes the differences between the two synonymous prepositions "cong" and "you" and points out the important contributions of this thesis to the research of these two words. | Keywords/Search Tags: | prepositions "cong" and "you", syntax, semantics, pragmatics | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
