Fascination With The Real World

Mr. Jia Zhangke, the leading power of the 6th generation of film directors, is adirector of the new era who gradually become public from the "underground"intotally 10 years. The global debut of "The World"in April of 2005 and ban-liftingof all his films have broaden his future career as a film director.Based on the film theories, this thesis uses Mr. Jia's works in his 10 year career, 2short films "Xiao Shan is back"and "Public Space", and the 4 feature films "XiaoWu", "Platform", "Unknown Pleasure"and "The World"as the subjects for studying,with consideration of the characteristics of his films and his impacts and status in thedomestic and international field, as well as his childhood and individual experiencein Beijing Film Academy, the marketing performance of his films before and afterhis publicity are systematically analyzed and studied.
