Textual interaction is comparatively a novel member in linguistic study. It calls for researchers' attention to communication between the written texts and individual readers. This study of textual interaction covers theories on semantics, stylistics, text linguistics, second language acquisition and communication. The focus of this paper is to explore the interaction between the reader and written texts. The author tries to provide a model of using textual interaction theory in teaching English as a second language to help students understand text materials, and encourage students to comprehend the texts by themselves. The text examples and materials come mainly from original magazines and newspapers, which provide up-to-date usages of the English language. The author here conveys an idea of analyzing and understanding the text from the readers' prospective, and students' interaction with the text. Finally attention is drawn to the implication of textual interaction in the teaching of academic writing.
