New West Prose

As China's Western Development Program is further carried out, a growing amount of attention is paid to China's West. Western prose as one of the western groups of literature has increasingly attracted attention from the literary world. This paper, from the aspects of subject matter, esthetics and value, makes a comprehensive and systematic analysis and interpretation on China's western literary groups for prose creation so as to manifest their uniqueness.As far as subject matter is concerned, this paper probes into three aspects that can best reflect the uniqueness of western prose, i.e. the choice of multiculture, the demonstration of frontier cultures and customs and the description of modern life. Among these three aspects, the author makes a further analysis in the part of choice of multiculture from two angles, i.e. the inherent all-embracing feature of the western culture and the different choices made by authors in the intense conflict between the culture of the Han nationality and the western cultures of ethnic groups. In the part of demonstration of frontier cultures and customs, the author makes a discussion about the description of natural scenery and cultural affairs and makes an analysis about the traditional frontier sense of anxiety for state security. The description of modern life is a focus of chapter one, for it reflects the authors' modern awareness of life, mainly including three aspects, i.e. emphasizing life itself, propagating the individual features of life and realizing the value of life.As for esthetics, the author, starting from their respective definition of esthetics, makes an exploration into the esthetic style of the western prose as a whole from three aspects, i.e. the tragic beauty, the masculine beauty and beauty of artistic conception.In terms of value, the author, mainly from such three angles as the creation of prose theory, the esthetic breakthrough and the modem consciousness, makes a probe into the value of western prose on literary theory, and the masculine beauty on the development of esthetics and society, as well as the remarkable significance of those modern consciousnesses manifested in the western prose, such as the harmony between man and nature, the humanistic care, the multiple open-style mentality.Through the study of the above-mentioned three aspects, the author hopes to establish the due status of western prose in the literary world of China and also hopes that this paper can attract more people to study the western prose.
