With the development of politics, economy and culture in Rome, the bath culture that has been symbolized with the prosperity of public bath gets full development. Bath has been one indispensable part of Roman daily life. The public baths in Rome are the most typical ones in the ancient world. As the lieu for bathing and meeting, public bath excels anything else in daily life. Since bathing in Rome reflects its prolific connotation, through the research about this we can understand better how the republic transformed to imperialism, and discern the changes of Roman's ethic and ideology.The thesis is composed of preface, text, conclusion and appendix.Part one introduces how the bath culture comes into being and develops in Rome, and what it consists of.Part two analyzes the reasons why public bath in Rome develops so well.Part three reveals the importance of Roman bath culture for its social life.
