Jingmingdao is one of the Taoist School which has mixed the ideas of Confucian and Buddhism in the period of South Song, King and Yuan Dynasty. At the early times of Yuan Dynasty, Liu Yu made a drastic reformation to Jingmingdao by proposing loyalty and filial piety, retaining anger and want, practicing promises. This had a deep influence on the following generations.Jingmingdao is the standard ethical religion which fuses Confucian and Taoist. It contains rich content of moral cultivation.As far as moral training is concerned, Jingmingdao regards general love and non-deceit as its purport and suggests to educate its believers by practice instead of words, establishing Taoist through divinity, and keeping in good health to promote moral level.For moral cultivation, Liu Yu, with some other people, held that pay as much attention to ethical words as to ethical deeds. They also advocated people retain anger and eliminate inner evils as soon as possible.The moral cultivation of Jingmingdao has all through attached importance to compliant disposition education. It combines healthful solicitude with infinite pursuance of life and spiritual promotion. The aim is to promote individual practice at the code of ethics and attain moral ideal state of loyalty, filial piety, clarification and aboveboard at the end.Although there is some idealism dross, such as religious theology, in the thought of Jingmingdao's moral cultivation, if we can assimilate the essence, it still can inspire moral training nowadays.
