Jungian Personality Type Theory In Marriage Counseling Research

Psychological Type theory is very important in C.G.Jung's analytical psychology and the MBTI based on that theory was developed by Myers and her mother. Nowadays MBTI is widely used in personnel appraisals and career counseling and marital counseling and other fields. Since the first edition of MBTI published, there are more than 4000 articles on it all together. But, we can find few studies with MBTI in home. No one publicly tries to use MBTI in marital counseling. So, we work hard to achieve this three aims, we firstly do our best to describe Psychological type theory and the development and application of MBTI clearly, secondly, we study the relation between spouse's personality traits and marriage quality and that between combination of spouse's psychological type and marriage quality, thirdly, we depend on conclusions educed by the research and past studies to apply MBTI and Psychological type theory in practice.We find in the end that some personality traits defined by Jung have close relationship with subjective content of marriage quality. In the other side we get super effect in using Psychological type to understand and interpret marital problem in practice. But, there are still two unresolved problems; this style of marital counseling depends much on spouses' education degree and the type of marital conflicts.
