Up In Reference To Developments In Fusion

This thesis comprises a systematic study on the correlation between Cao Yu'drama and leftist drama in the 1930's. It can be divided into three parts. First, it researches the common characteristics of Cao Yu'drama and leftist drama, and them gives verdicts to both the advantages and disadvantages of these characteristic. Second, it studies the effects that Cao Yu's drama gave to leftist drama, illustrating the improvement that leftist dramatists made by the influence of Cao Yu. Third, the thesis reveals the Cao Yu's changes due to leftist dramas, such as changes on the main ideas of drama, the mode the drama, and the characters in his dramas in the late 1930's.This paper points out the view that the amalgamation of Cao Yu and leftist drama leads to the improvement of both of them. By analyzing the correlation between Cao Yu's drama and leftist drama, we can obtain the eyesight to view the literary phenomena as a whole, and can grasp the development of modern Chinese drama in the 1930's more clearly.
