Influenced by the thoughts of literati painting,both the aesthetic tendency and the style of tradional landscape paintings changed greatly.of which the period of Song and Yuan was a crucial one.Outwardly the style and forms during the period were various, there lay.however, internal thread of evolution in it,and Ch'ien Hsuan played a key role in elaborating the relations among them .It was Ch'ien Hsuan and ZhaoMengFu who initiated the movement of "back to the ancients",created and mastered the aesthetic tendency and the development of paintings at that time .The essay aims at revealing the relations between the course of Ch'ien Hsuan 's landscapes itself an iien evolution of landscape then by analysing his concrete works and comparing one another.Meanwhile, I'd like to contrast Ch'ien Hsuan 's artistic viewpoints with the characteristics of his ages in order to show the major meaning and outstanding achievements of Ch'ien i i en Hua landscapes.
