Buck and Maxine Hong Kingston,and their two novels-The Earth and The Woman Warrior through comparison and study of their lives and their novels. The similarities are:their writings are all based on the Chinese cultural backgrounds;they all live in the situations of two cultural conflicts and combinations;they both have the ideas of woman's rights;contribute a lot to the communication of Chinese and American cultures. The thesis analyzes the writing skills of the two writers,the factors of the success of these two novels and some demerits existing in Pearl S. Buck's novel The Earth. Then the thesis firmly affirms their contributions and their roles in the history ofcommunication in both Chinese and American cultures.
