| This thesis about reclamation in medieval Germany is applied with comparable method and scientific measure , analyzing and discussing the reason, the process of reclamation and the influence on politics, economy and social life in Germany.The introduction is introduced reclamation in the Middle Ages, an important event in the developing process of feudal society, which makes a deep impression on the history of Germany whose development and change of social structure begins with the change of land ownership arising from reclamation.The text is divided into three chapters.The first chapter describes the first reclamation and the development of the fief system in Frank. The first segment is about the reason for reclamation: Agriculture production gradually becomes the principal activity. With increase of population and the practicing of the fief system, people are eager for lands. Transformation of value view of labor and improvement of manufacture technology create necessary factors for reclamation. The second segment is about the rise of reclamation. The third segment is about influence of reclamation, which promotes the development of the fief system and the foundation of formation of the feudal system.The second chapter discusses the second reclamation and the development of German economy in the city. The first segment is about the reason for the emergence of reclamation: the population increases rapidly, lords extend manor, the upper-class support reclamation, and reclamation leads to the changing of the economic structure, which enhances the promotion of reclamation. The second segment is chiefly about the process of lords' colonization eastwards. The third segment is about the effect, which establishes the base for the lands, accelerates development of economy in full scale, and makes the relationship of personal dependencyloosen.The third chapter describes the second reclamation and the sprout of capitalist productive relationship in Germany. The first segment is about the causes of the increase of population and the rise of the price on crop that makes reclamation spring up again. The second segment is about German economy is rapidly revival after the Black Death. The third segment is about the practice of the tenancy system and the serfdom accelerates the spout of capitalist productive relationship.The conclusion is based on the above analysis of the cause, the process and the result of reclamation in medieval Germany. We can draw a conclusion that reclamation causes changes in German social structure in different periods, and with the transformation of land ownership, Germany experiences a series of profound changes accordingly. |
