China In The 1990s Culture Nostalgia Tendency

the 1990s has seen the fundamental changes in all social aspects in China and so does the Chinese culture simultaneously. Having become one trend in the culture of the 90s, nostalgia demonstrates itself in many culture aspects : in the popular songs , prose, fiction, painting, clothing, film, dining and tourism . This thesis is an attempt to distill the nostalgial phenomenon and analysis the facts . The writer of the thesis intends to probe deep from the surface nostalgia into its essence and states the true identity of the nostalgial trend : It is in essence a consuming trend under the gentle disguise of nostalgia and it is against the essence of nostalgia under such a mask lies the venture the special class takes isolating the meditation towards values of history and the profound emotional Involvement. In the meantime , the writer intends to examine the situation and fate of the Chinese traditional culture in the 1990s and hence prove that the revival of traditional culture is a mere optimistic imagination held by some scholars. Beneath the surface of nostalgia in the 1990s is the heavy blow given to the traditional culture .It is a road irrevocable of culture development.This thesis is divided mainly into three parts: introduction , narrating nostalgia and listing the nostalgial fact in history . The first part is devoted to the narration of nostalgial tread from nine aspects in the culture of the 90s . The second part is devoted to the narration of nostalgial trend the complex discourse of its development from five aspects. The third part is devoted to the analysis of the true appearance manipulated by consumism . The conclusion aims at generalizing the central theme of the thesis and examine the situation of the traditional culture.
