She took a solemn attitude towards her writing and also in a simple writing style, she described the peasants?hardships, the salt miners?sufferings and the women抯 forceful personality in the salt mines of Ba Shu (Sichuan Province today). And she is regarded as a notable writer in both the history of Ba Shu Literature and even the history of Modern Chinese Literature. The dissertation includes four parts. Part I: The Context of Ba Shu Culture. The rich and nourishing legacy of Ba Shu culture had inspired numerous outstanding writers. Entering the 2O~ century, the tradition of Ba Shu culture, the introduction of foreign culture and the ever-changing society made Ba Shu literature a new glory. Among those writers who became famous in the renaissance of Chinese literature after the May Fourth Movement, Luo Shu, brought up in Ba Shu culture, is famous for her individuality and artistic taste. Part II: Living Experience in Ba Shu (Sichuan province today) and the description of that. Luo Shu, born in a rich big clan running salt business, witnessed the horrible workshops and miserable life of miners and peasants nearby. At the same time, she was impressed by their loyalty, honesty and goodness. During the May Fourth Movement, she was involved in the renaissance of Chinese literature and became an anti-feudal woman. Later she went to France. There she read lots of history books about French Revolution and American and European literature. After returning to China, she began to wrote novels about the life in her hometown while translating some foreign works. The three collections of her works, complied by Ba Jin, a great writer, were entitled respectively The Quick抯 Wife, Trap for Fishes and The Corner. The all described vividly the poor people抯 struggle for a living, their strong life 2 force and the human nature such as innocence and good conscience. Part III: Paraphrasing the text of The Quick抯 Wife. The short story was her maiden work and magnum opus which spread her fame as a female writer. It tells us a story about selling wife. A poor hay vendor sold his wife just because he loved his wife so much that he didn抰 have the heart to let his wife suffer poverty with him. And the wife also decided to be sold in order to make her husband survive. And another cruel fact was revealed that the buyer viewed women as a sex and reproduction tool, which distinguishes sharply between the seller抯 and the purchaser抯 moral values. The wife, unable to endure the humiliation and insult, finally fought against the buyer and got away. She would rather starve to death in her poor husband抯 home. The story also embodies the Ba Shu women抯 rebellions spirits and forceful personality. Comparing the story with Rou Shi抯 For Slave抯 Mother, we conclude that both the honest writers, concerning themselves with the corrupt customs of their hometown-selling wife, contemplated the women抯 life in that society and revealed in their works that the insulted women with a strong will for survival never stop struggling. Part IV: The Significance of Luo Shu抯 novels. As far as the history of modem Chinese literature is concerned, Luo Shu抯 novels have a lasting impact on native literature, labor抯 literature and female literature. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | ", meteorite", | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
