Putonghua Proficiency Test Pronunciation Is Mistaken For The Analysis Of The Acoustic Characteristics

This paper is a part of the 1999 research programs of the National Language and Writing System Work Committee The Data Bank System Of the standard phonetic features of different level in PSC(Putonghua Shuiping Ceshi) which means Putonghua Proficiency Test, which is a program under the leadership of my graduate advisor Professor Wangyuguang. We try to formulate a clear standard for PPT through analyzing a large amount of phonetics samples. With analyzing the phonetics which are easily mispronounced such as the flat versus retroflex: zh,ch,sh,---- z,c,s; the nasal versus lateral: n梚; the front tail vowel versus back tail vowel: an---ang, en---eng, in---ing, and with the help of the achievement on Acoustics and Experimental Phonetics, we can draw the actual wave forms, spectrograms and sonograms which we can use to specify the correctness, defect and error of every sound in order to be objective and fare during the PPT. From later on, we should try the best to avoid being subjective during the PSC on order to strengthen the accuracy and authoritativeness of the standard for defferent levels in PSC and improve its quality. We can also use the achievement to correct the phonetic problems in teaching Putonghua for different individual in different area in order to achieve good effect in teaching.
