Chinese Hand 'compounds Cognitive Research

The thesis, with the Synchronic comparison and during comparison as its theories, is to categorize and generalize varies phenomenon of the Chinese"hand" vocabulary group. The present research objectives is to take shape a comparing system for a number of semantic phenomenon about the mandarin Chinese, the dialect Chinese and the ancient Chinese, offer one theoretical perspective to describe the appearance and discipline. At the same time, we provide the motivation of the Chinese"hand" vocabulary group for a general explanation under the guidance of the idealized cognitive model.We can find that, after describing, comparing, analyzing the facts and phenomenon of language, there are many similarities and unbalances of"hand" vocabulary group among the mandarin Chinese, the dialect Chinese and the ancient Chinese. The similarities illustrate that its Semantic come from the same source and keep the ancient meanings. But the unbalances between the mandarin Chinese and the dialect Chinese bring the differences illustrate that the mandarin Chinese as the office language affect the dialect Chinese. According to analyzing the cognitive motivation, we not only explained the essential reasons for generating the same semantics with the ways of cognitive and the habits of imagination, but also illustrate the cardinal reasons for creating the different semantics with the environment of the social cultural which people live in. Then we know metaphor, metonymy and image schemas played an important role in generating semantics, find out the implicit semantics rules, and deeply understand the intrinsic link of words, then explain proper the motivation of words.Because of the limit material and the writer's ability to study, there are some shortcomings about in this thesis, mainly include two aspects. On one hand, with the currently existing dictionary as our language material, to some extent, generalizing and classifying the semantics Phenomenon, analyzing the semantics distribution would have some defects. On the other hand, with the guidance of the cognitive theories, the system of researching and the capability of manipulating the theories still need enhance.
