Captology is an overlapping area between computing and persuasion, which means computers as persuasive technology. This paper analyses the basic meaning of persuasive technology theory, including the research of persuasion, factors of persuasive technology, functional triad and its applications. To give a philosophical analysis to persuasive technology, Don Ihde's technological phenomenology theory and Borgmann's device paradigm theory are applied. The ethical reflection refers to ethics of intentions and users, outcomes, and ethics of technological design, use and intentions. Goodness, rights and justice are three main ethical principles. Ethical rules such as respect for freedom, rights, equality and justice are proposed. On the basis of the above, ethical framework for analysis can be drawn from intentions, methods and outcomes, from technological mediation, and from device paradigm . At last, benefits of stakeholders should be stated.
