War Period "mop-up" (guilin Version) War Mobilization Issues

The issue on war mobilization on the Kuomintang press during the Anti-Japanese War is an important topic that requires further research.Guilin as the key strategic site of the Southwest Area ruled by Kuomintang during the Anti-Japanese War have witnessed a prosperous development of journalism and publishing. New Guangxi Clique, the then ruler of the district, boasted liberal policies and politic attitudes, which also gave good results for Kuomintang's wartime mobilizing propaganda.The Sao Tang Pao (Guilin issue) was then the ministerial journal of Kuomintang Military Committee. It played an active role in Kuomintang's mobilizating propaganda.This paper takes the wartime mobilization issues on Sao Tang Pao (Guilin issue) as the analysis object to represent Kuomintang's wartime mobilization on press through studies on relative news reports and reviews, and shows that Kuomintang's wartime mobilizations are mostly on the spiritual level.The research time scale dates from Dec. 20th , 1938 when Sao Tang Pao (Guilin issue) moved to Guilin to Sep. 7th, 1944, and this period is divided into two levels as the war developed into the stage of stalemate and then of counter offensive.As for research content, this paper introduces and analyzes examples from news articles and reviews on Sao Tang Pao during that period on economic, political, spiritual, organizational and military mobilizations with Kuomintang government and people from all walks of life as the report subject. Examples will be obtained through census method. As for research method, this paper makes statistical analysis into Kuomintang's war mobilization propaganda through content analysis method, and does research into report axis, appealing focus and appealing tactics of Sao Tang Pao (Guilin issue).Through researches into Kuomintang's war mobilization propaganda on Sao Tang Pao (Guilin issue) during Anti-Japanese War, this paper argues that Sao Tang Pao (Guilin issue) played a vital role as the important military press and created great influence during war period. It fulfilled its historical responsibilities and made great contribution for the nation and the people.With its several aims as building good relations between the army and the people, lifting the spirits of the army, and strengthening people's confidence for the KMT government, Sao Tang Pao (Guilin issue) acted as a communicative channel between the army and people through publishing news and reports on wartime mobilization issues. It fully exercised the special function of wartime press by motivating the fight against foreign invasions, and contributed spiritual wealth by documenting the final victory of the Chinese in the war.
