The Zhou family of Lu-ling of Southern Song Dynasty emerged to be a prominent family through the imperial examinations, and the rising process offered a quite typical case among the large number of outstanding families during the Two Song Dynasties. The most important person of this family Zhou Bida who was the prime minister of emperor Xiaozong, played a key role during the rising process. There were 30 and more famous family members, who can be can be traced back to Zhou Kan, who was Zhou bida' Great-grandfather, and under referred to his grandson, Zhou Hao. This family had been a big family since Northern Song Dynasty, some of their descendants entered upon political career through civil service exams, inheritance of title or other channels. And some descendants that adhered to family rules inherited ancestral lore, and achieved substantial achievements in academic research and literary creation. When Zhou Bida became the prime minister, family pride reached the peak. And finally, it crowded in the list of prominent families of the Southern Song Dynasties. In addition, the "Zhou" family members got praiseworthy achievements in the fields of literature, history, and arts. In particular, Zhou Bida hand down a 200-volumes book called Wenzhongji, which involved many ways of Song Dynasty such as politics, literature and history. Now according to to ancient bibliography books and other related documents, we gave a detailed study of Wenzhongji's versions and spread; as to other family members, gave a comprehensive summary to their article. Through these efforts we hope to enrich the academic content of the Song Dynasty family study, and also to expand the space and point of view of Song Dynasty cultural and historical research.
