Rural Junior High School Life Events, Coping Style And Subjective Happiness

The study adopts the three scales, including comprehensive sense of happiness scale, simple way to deal with the questionnaire scale and adolescent life events scale, to test some students from six, seven, eight, nine grade students in a rural middle school of a city naming Nan Yang of He Nan province. Survey questionnaires were distributed and all were returned, of which 333 are valid questionnaires. Sample consisted of 167 boys,166 girls. Through statistical analysis tool SPSS 13.0, the data is analysised by descriptive statistics, independent sample T test, variance analysis, correlation analysis and regression analysis, and the following is conclusions:(1) The subjective well-being of rural junior high school students is in the medium level.(2) In the way of gender, the scores of subjective well-being and six dimensions are no significant differences on rural junior high students.(3) In the way of grade, four grades have significant difference for the subjective well-being. Through the inspection, we found sixth-graders have significant difference with grade nine, but they have no significant difference with seven-graders and eight-graders. The seventh graders have significant difference with grade nine, but they have no significant difference with sixth-graders and eighth-graders.(4) The subjective well-being of junior high students have significant correlation with their way to deal things. The students tending to actively respond to difficulties have stronger well-being than ones responding inactively. In addition, on junior students, life events and subjective well-being are some related. On junior student, the influence from life events are more, their subjective well-being will be lower. Among the life events, comparison interpersonal factors and learning factor are two factors closely relatedAccording to the questionnaire analysis results, we could found that coping styles and life events significantly influence the subjective well-being of rural junior high school student. Especially, life events of interpersonal and learning pressure are important. Accordingly, the proposal from the following several aspects to improve the subjective well-being of rural junior high school student are sugguested. 1. Alleviate learning stress, and relieve learning load. The study pressure is the main pressure source which the middle school students are facing. It not only affects the students' psychological health, but also affects students'happy experience. Therefore relieve students' learning pressure burden is necessary.2. To establish the harmonious relation between teacher and students. Teacher is a "important others" with junior high school student. Teacher's evaluation and teachers' relationship affect students'self evaluation to the life and the satisfaction levels.3. Maintain good peer relationship. Many research found that friend relationship helps to improve the positive emotions, individual life satisfaction and subjective well-being.4. Create harmonious family atmosphere. Parents should adjust good mentality, establish equality awareness and equality attitude towards children. They should understand that the child not only have physical needs but have psychological needs. In learning aspect, they should not give children too much pressure.5. Learn to accept themselves, and develop self-confidence. On junior high school students, to improve the subjective well-being, the important thing is to learn to accept yourself and have positive and optimistic view of yourself.
