The paper regards Luo Hongxian's theory of the cultivation as the research object. In recent years, there appears a large-scale upsurge of research Wang-school philosophy in the academic community. Hongxian who is deemed to be a scholar of Wang-school in Jianyou is now concerned strongly by the researchers because of his unique doctrinal connotation. Before this upsurge, the researchers passing refer to and indirectly mention Luo Hongxian's philosophy in the history of thought and philosophy. Subsequently, the researchers begin to be enthusiastic about study systematically Luo Hongxian's philosophy, perhaps because the unique style of Luo Hongxian's philosophy inspired their research interests. Their research methods are divided into two categories:the historical researches and the philosophical studies. The historical researches rigidly adhere to the transforms of Luo Hongxian's ideology, and the philosophical studies analyze excessive abstractly conceptions and categories in Luo Hongxian's philosophy. Luo Hongxian's theory of the cultivation is rather celebrated and important, so it is necessary to study his theory of the cultivation in depth, which performs an important function in understanding and grasping the quintessence and the truth of Luo Hongxian's philosophy.Luo Hongxian's theory of the cultivation is found to show different verbal forms and supply nicely the needs of living and learning. The performance of frivolous and lighthearted character and the dying life experience spurred Luo Hongxiang on to requiring a delicate realm to appease frivolous consciousness and life-and-death anxious at his early age. Therefore, Luo Hongxian rashly accepted the point that "Intuitive Knowledge is perceived this moment" before he didn't have any really effective practice, so it was as he could do to believed intuitive knowledge was perceived this moment and admitted intuitive knowledge was inherent in self and was perceived easily. Since then, Luo Hongxian's theory of the cultivation had changed twice, the first change was from the cultivation of "Trust in Self and Soul" to "stable Meditation", and the second is from the cultivation of "stable Meditation" to "proficient Meditation". Obviously, the both changes consisted of three stages of the cultivation: precursory period with "Trust and Introspection", steady period with "Meditation without Desires", perfect period with "Constringency and Holding". However, the precursory period of the cultivation of "stable Meditation" was also called "transition period" because Luo Hongxian's theory of the cultivation in the period was inherently changing, and also called "confused period" because Luo Hongxian's theory of the cultivation in the period was in a state of confusion, and also called "period of having an inking" because Luo Hongxian's theory of the cultivation in the period sporadic gave voice to "Meditation". In this period, Luo Hongxian's theory of the cultivation retained the characteristics of "Trust in Self and Soul" and tried to turn toward the substantial cultivation of "Meditation", which was given rise to the fact that the Intuitive Knowledge accepted in speech did not avail in practice and moral consciousness was difficult to stand firm under desires. Therefore, Luo Hongxian concentrated his efforts on search a method of stopping desires. However, the desires are firmly anchored in bad practices. So the way of stopping desire in involute external context did not succeed because external context interflow with bad practices, which result in Luo Hongxian chose the cultivation of "Meditation without Desires". Henceforward, Luo Hongxian's theory of the cultivation turned toward the cultivation of "stable Meditation". When Luo Hongxian apperceived Ontological Intuitive Knowledge by means of Meditation, Wang-school scholars were fearful that Luo Hongxian gave up Confucian life principle and accepted the life style of Buddhism and Taoism, so they awaked and censured Luo Hongxian. In fact, the misgivings of Wang-school scholars weren't an empty one. Luo Hongxian showed sometimes some acts of abandoning Confucian life principle, such as closed door in Shiliang hole, refused to be an official, stopped communication, got closer to religion and so on. Subsequently, Luo Hongxian also came to realize his error, and then he realized the meanings of "All in One" and "Dynamic and Static Syncretism". However, Luo Hongxian made the cultivation of "Meditation" an everyday habit, so that he didn't abandon "Meditation". In order to relieve the conflict between "Meditation" and "Dynamic and Static Syncretism", it was essential that Luo Hongxian enlarge and deepen the connotation of "Meditation". Finally, the cultivation of "Meditation" manifested itself in "Constringency and Holding", which achieved perfect, but perfect cultivation still was one of the cultivations of "Meditation" and merely adhered to formal static. In addition, this paper also analyzes the reasons of development and the effects of Luo Hongxian's cultivation. Eventually, the paper clarifies once more the essential, evolution mechanism and effects of Luo Hongxian's cultivation. |
