Shen From The Text Of The Countryside And The Urban

In this paper, the main idea is order to describe the "Xiangxi World" and "Urban World" in Shen Cong-wen's novels, analyze how he constructs of these two worlds under which factors. Then elucidating the idea of Shen's value trends from the two worlds, and his ideology that hidden his novel's world.The first part mainly discusses the influence for him between the external environment and internal factors when Shen Cong-wen began writing. Then analyze how to practice his idea, until build a complete set of his own novel theoretical system.Chinese literature has always been faced with such a background in the 20th century:the conflict between Urban Civilization and Rural Civilization. Shen Cong-wen's novels always reflect the conflict. After reading his novels, we will notice that these novels reflect his idea:the challenge of modernity. This paper will explore Shen how to questioned modernity from two aspects:praising for Rural Civilization and criticizing of Urban Civilization.The focus of last part of the paper talks about the impact of ideology on writers, and analyzes specifically the influence that the ideology of Liberalism and Cultural Conservatism on Shen Cong-wen's creation. One hand, the ideology makes his novels to vivid and bright; the other hand, it also inevitably obscures some of the social reality.
