Yu Xuanji Poetry. Women's Literary Vision Under Study

Yu Xuanji, who lived in the late Tang Dynasty with literary attainments and ill-fate, was a short-lived female poetess, she always received people's dispute. She has suffered the life tribulation, but she was still rebellious and self-expressional for life; She endured the mockery of her lover, but_still enshrined her beautiful love independently; She lived in a relatively open and free Tang Dynasty, she still put up with the yoke of the feudalism. Compared with strong feudalism, she was so weak, but she still expressed her own sentiment, life, soul with her strong heart. Her 50 poems were precious material for the later generations to analyze female life and emotion in Tang Dynasty.We have made great progress for her poems for almost two decades. Research of content and art presented from the new angle with all sorts of new opinions. However the inquisition about female consciousness in her poems appeared sketchy, several articles about female consciousness in her poems were too simple just with unitary angle, some just focus on her rebelling characters; Some discussed her unique love view; some studied her independent consciousness or female consciousness from the unequal social reality of the male power society and so on. The author thought the feminine consciousness in her poems is not insufficient to express its intrinsic characteristic merely from one or two aspects. Therefore, we should analyze not only from poet's thought, sentiment and life, but also from the poet's understanding to life and society from poet's social background, especially female poet's recognition to life and values in that social background. With time development, people's self-awareness gradually enhanced, at the same time, with the women's movement and feminism, the value of female consciousness in her poems is realized and approved gradually by people, thus causing more research to her poems.On the basis of previous research, this article will study Yu Xuanji and her female Literature in late Tang Dynasty, particularly focus on the analysis of female consciousness exploration in her poems, and we will discuss the historical status of her poems in Chinese female literature from female literature angle.
