Objective:This study is aimed to explore new good methods for study of the Syndrome quantitative research, and to establish a Scale for Depression of TCM syndrome elements.Methods:(1) Literature Review:the research of depression in TCM and Western medicine.(2)Analyze the method of researching the TCM Syndrome and reviewe the literature of the scale in Chinese medicine research.(3) By epidemiology survey, collect data on four exam model, summarize the basic syndrome elements through Entropy Clustering Analysis, and finally built item pool by comparing the data with the result of syndrome differentiation.Determine the weight coefficient of each symptom through logistic regression analysis, and reach conclusion of the syndrome elements'diagnosis threshold of the syndrome elements by ROC curve analysis.Results:1.Treated the data by Entropy-based method of complex system, summarized 12 basic Syndromes, extracted the syndrome elements and the Related symptoms, and it come to 8 syndromes elements:Yin deficiency,Qi deficiency,Blood deficiency,Qi stagnation,Phlegm-dampness,Blood stasis and Fire, most related to the liver, heart, spleen, stomach, kidney. Stagnation of qi is the most common syndrome element.2.Made a scale of a Scale for Depression of TCM syndrome elements by logistic regression and ROC curve analysis.Yin deficiency(threshold 7):feverish sensation over the five centers(weight 3),night sweating(4),tidal fever(3),dry mouth and throat (2);Qi deficiency(7):lassitude(2),shortness of breath(2),sweat(2),tired and no desire to speak(3);Blood deficiency(4):blurred vision and dry eyes(1),palpitation and dream(1),dry hair easy to drop(1),numb hands and feet(1),irregular menstruation(1);Qi stagnation(4):depression(1),chest tightness and sigh(1), chest and flank distension(1),epigastric distension and depression(1), abdominal distention(1);Blood stasis(4):stabbing pain(2),purple skin and mucous membranes(2),tumor or mass(2),irregular menstruation (1); Phlegm-dampness (6):excessive phlegm (2), nausea (2), heavy body and head(2),dizziness(1),epigastric distension and depression(1),swelling or lump(2);Fire(6):anxiety and irritability(1),bitter in mouth(2),aphthous stomatitis(1),sore gums(1),thirsty and like cold drind(1),constipation(1),scanty dark urine (2).Conclusion:The methods based on the combination of disease and syndrome, and making syndrome elements as the research units, is significance of Syndrome research.Entropy Clustering analysis is suitable for summarizing the syndrome elements and the relationship between symptoms. Establishing a Scale through Logistic Regression and ROC curve analysis is feasible.
