Objective To research the natural heal process of extraction socket and site preservation with bio-material to prevent resorption of alveolar. Methods 12 beagles were included in this study, 8.7 months-old and 8.8kg average. The distal root of third premolar was extracted and the extraction socket was healed naturally. The distal root of fourth premolar was extracted and Bio-Collagen was placed into the socket, after that transplanted mucosal flap from the palatal. At 1 day, 1,2,4,8 and 12weeks after the surgery, two beagles were sacrificed separately. The bi-maxilla samples were taken and radiological and histological examination were perfomed. Results From 1day to 12 weeks, the bone healing process of the natural healing group was slowly and stably. New bone was regenerated in the extraction socket. The site preservation group was healed undoubtedly. The bio-material was absorbed and new bone was regenerated also. The length and shape of the bone and soft tissue were kept mostly. Conclusions To preserve the shape and length and width of the hard tissue and soft tissue of extraction socket, site preservation technique is valuable.
