Cervical cancer is the commonest malignant tumor of gynecological cancers, lymph node metastasis is the key routine of distant metastasis, also as an vital prognostic marker in cervical carcinoma. Many new studies indicated that VEGF-C correclate with lymph node metastasis. Objective:To study the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor-C(VEGF-C) in normal uterial cervix, cervical intraepithelial neoplasia(CIN)and carcinoma of cervix,in order to analyze its role in invasion of cervical cancer. Methods:immunohistochemical method was used to detect the expression of VEGF-C in the samples of 68 cases of cervical carcinoma,25 cases of CIN and 12 cases of normal cervical tissues.Correlation of expression of VEGF-C with cervical carcinoma clinical stage, pathological grade, lymph node metastasis,et al.Clinical pathological factors was statistically analyzed.Results:1.The expression rates of VEGF-C were gradually increased with the progress cervical lesions. The expression of VEGF-C was higher in cervical cancer with lymphatic metastasis than that without lymphatic metastasis. The expression of VEGF-C had negative correlation with the pathologic grade of cervical carcinoma. The expression of VEGF-C in low differentiation group was significantly higher than that in middle/high differentiation groups. In one word, the expression of VEGF-C in cervical carcinoma was correlated with clinical stage, pathological grade, depth of cervical infiltration, and lymph node metasrasis(P<0.05).VEGF-C chiefly located in cell plasma or cytomembrane of tumor cell. The positive expression was also visualized in lymphatic vessel and blood vessel near the cancer cells.2.The expression of VEGF-C in cervical carcinoma was correlated with clinical stage(FIGO2000),pathological grade, depth of cervical infiltration, and lymph node metasrasis(P<0.05).Conclusion:The expression of VEGF-C was involved in oncogenesis or development. It might play an important role in the the differentiation and lymphatic metastisis of cervical cancer.
