The incidence of acute spinal cord injury(SCI) is ascending in the rising accidents of transportation in modern society,the treatment of acute spinal cord injury more and more get of medical people take seriously.After a large number of clinical and animal experiments on acute spinal cord injury, and found that after SCI,damage result from 2 mechanisms,primary SCI and secondary SCI.as a part of traditional Chinese medicine,Acupuncture has its own unique advantages for the treatment of acute spinal cord injury.On the base of large number of previous researches,this experiment was carried out to observe the effection of electroacupuncture with different time in acute injury of spinal cord in rats so as to find the best time for treating acute spinal cord injury(SCI).Method:A total of 65 SD rats were evenly randomized into the normal group,the model group,electroacupuncture group 1,electroacupuncture group 2,and electroacupuncture group 3.Made the SCI model by Allen's method.The 3 electroacupuncture groups are acupunctured separately 2h,6h and 12h after being built SCI model.The acupoints of GV4 and GV14 were chosen as the EA(2Hz,persistence waves,2~5mA) treatment points for 30min.Take out the injured spinal cord 24h after being built SCI model.Detect the changement of NO,MDA and SOD in the injured spinal cord of all the rats,and the slices of spinal cord were made with HE.Result:(1)The level of NO in model group was significantly higher than those of normal group. the level of NO in electroacupuncture groups was lower than those of model group.The difference between the electroacupuncture group 1 and model group was significant (P<0.05).It showed the Therapeutic Effects of electroacupuncture in a SCI Model.There was no significant difference of NO level between the electroacupuncture groups and normal group(P>0.05),which showed that after electroacupuncture treatment,the NO level closed to normal.(2)To cpmpare with the normal group,the level of SOD was lower and MDA was higher in the spinal cord of model group.(3)To compare with the model group,the level of SOD was higher and MDA was lower in the spinal cord of electroacupuncture group.Especially the electroacupuncture group 1,difference was extremely significant from the model group(P<0.01).There was no significant difference of SOD and MDA level between the electroacupuncture groups and normal group(P>0.05),which showed that after electroacupuncture treatment,the SOD and MDA level closed to normal. Conclusion:(1)After the treatment,the levels of NO in the injured spinal cord improved and the levels of MDA and SOD in the injured spinal cord decreased.The result of electroacupuncture group 1 was most significant.,(2)Electroacupuncture given earlier(2h after ASCI) will have better time-effectiveness.(3) Electro-acupuncture can enhance the SOD content and lower MDA,NO content in the purpose to protect the spinal cord in order to reduce the damage caused by acute spinal cord injury.
