"yiqihuoxue Meridians Pain Needle Combined With Rehabilitation Therapy For Stroke Shoulder - Hand Syndrome Clinical Research

Stroke is a common and frequent disease of neurology. Shoulder- -Hand Syndrome (SHS) is one of the most commonly encountered compli- -cation of stroke. In order to further find an effective therapy to treat SHS, this paper discussed the feasibility of treating SHS with"Yi Qi Huo Xue, Tong Luo Zhi Tong"("YQHX, TLZT") acupuncture therapy with rehabilitation. The study observed the therapeutic effect on self-caring ability, upper limb function together with degree of pain and edema.Methods: 43 SHS patients were divided into the rehabilitation group and the acup-rehabilitation group randomly. Besides the conventional treatment, the acup-rehabilitation group was treated with"YQHX, TLZT"acupuncture therapy and rehabilitation while the rehabilitation one was treated with rehabilitation therapy. 4 weeks for one course. Before and after the treatment, we assessed ADL by BI, evaluated the upper limb function and degree of pain by modified Fugl-Meyer and estimated the degree of edema with VAS grade point. The data was analyzed by SPSS11.5 software.Results: After 4 weeks treatment, there was a significant in- -crease of ADL and modified Fugl-Meyer scores(P<0.01), and also the VAS scores decreased significantly(P<0.01). There was also a significant difference between the two groups (P<0.05)in the end of the treatment course, the acup-rehabilitation group was superior to the rehabilitation one.Conclusion: The results suggest that"YQHX, TLZT"acupuncture therapy with rehabilitation can treat SHS effectively, and its clinical effectiveness is superior to the rehabilitation one. The therapy can improve the main symptom of SHS significantly, by which the level of daily life can be advanced. The therapy of"YQHX, TLZT"acupuncture method with rehabilitation gives prominence to the feature of treating disease with dynamic static integration, which has certain application foreground and spread value.
