The paper consists two parts:literature review and experimental study.First Section:Literature ReviewThere are two literature reviews.The first article reviewed the researches of etiology and treatment for multiple sclerosis(MS) in recent years,which were published in the domestic and foreign periodicals.The second one focused on the awareness of MS in Traditional Chinese Medicine and the researches in the filed of Traditional Chinese Medicine.Second Section:Experimental ResearchObjective:To discuss the protective mechanism of electro-acupuncture(EA) in the rats'model of EAE.Methods:The Rats were randomly divided into control group,model group,drug group and electro-acupuncture group.Then the female Wistar rats were immuned by a stable water-in-oil emulsion which was made from guinea pig spinal cord homogenate(GPSCH) and complete Freund's adjuvant(CFA) to produce the experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis(EAE) model.We drawned the brain tissue after 18days and 28days,when the modles were made.(1) According to the standards proposed by Kono,we scored the nerve function;(2) We observed the histopathological changes in Lumbar enlargement of spinal cord with Loyez myelin staining;(3) And we determinated the different content of IFN-γ,IL-4 in brain tissue in each group.Results:Neurological function score:The recurrence period rats(after 28days be modeld) drug group, electro-acupuncture group of neurological function score was significantly different from model group.In other times,there was no significant difference in model group.drug group and electro-acupuncture group.However, the peak period rats(after 28days be modeld) the average neurological function scores of drug group and electro-acupuncture group were lower than model group.Cytokines in brain tissue:the peak period rats,(1) The content of IFN-γin control group,drug group and EA group was significantly different from the model group(P<0.05),but the control group,drug group and EA group had no significant difference.(2) The content of IL-4 in control group,drug group and EA group was significantly different from the model group(P<0.05),and the drug group and EA group was significantly different from control group(P<0.05),but the drug group and EA group had no significant difference.Recurrence period rats,(1) the content of IFN-γin the control group,drug group and EA group was significantly different from the model group(P<0.05),and the drug group and EA group was significantly different from the control group(P<0.05),but the drug group and EA group had no significant difference(P>0.05).(2) The content of IL-4 in control group,drug group and EA group was significantly different from the model group(P<0.05),and the drug group and EA group was significantly different from the control group(P<0.05),but the drug group and EA group had no significant difference(P>0.05).Conclusion:Electro-acupuncturing "Baihui","Shenshu","Zusanli" had therapeutic effect of on rats of EAE model.It maight be regulating the balance between pro-inflammatory cytokines(represented by IFN-γ) and suppressing inflammatory cytokines(represented by IL-4),inducing Th0 cells to Th2 cells,effectively inhibiting the activity of Th1-type cell and enhanced the activity of Th2-type cells and purposed the therapeutic effect of EAE rats.It prompted that inhibitte the inflammatory factor and control the central nervous tissue immune cascade of EAE effectivly maight be an important role in the mechanismthe of electro-acupuncture treatment. |
