The functional dyspepsia(FD)is one of the common diseases in gastroenterology.The deeper the cognition penetrates,the more the treatments grow.This article generally reviews the current treatments of FD in recent years.FD is a group of non-organic diseases with an gradually increasing incidence.Many patients are affected by the conspicuous clinical symptoms,incomplete treatments and repeated attacks.Its pathogenesis has not been studied clearly in western medicine and there is no specific remedy.Commonly used drugs include antacids,prokinetic agents,anti-anxiety or anti-depression drugs,dijex,anti-HP treatment etc.Combined therapy,integrated and individualized treatment are promoted to the standardization of FD treatment.Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)plays certain advantage in clinic by making full use of its overall concept and treatment based on syndrome differentiation theory, which is different from modern medicine.According to Chinese medicine,FD is closely related with liver,spleen and stomach.The common syndromes include qi stagnation due to depression of liver,deficiency of both spleen and stomach,liver depression and spleen deficiency,damp-heat blocking the middle-jiao and so on.There are several remedies frequently used such as soothing the liver and relieving depression,dispersing with pungent herbs while descending with bitter herbs,invigorating the spleen and replenishing qi,clearing away damp-heat and harmonizing the stomach so as to descend the adverse qi.At the same time, acupuncture and massage also play an important role in treating FD.FD treatment with the combination of both TCM and western medicine display better and stronger curative effects due to the advantage on both sides.Based on the syndrome differentiation theory of TCM,adding target symptom-effective western drugs serve as one strong point.In addition,under the guidance of meridian theory combining modern methods,the development of stomach intestine pacing, vibroacoustic massotherapy provided broad prospects for the treatment of FD.However,there are some unbelievable points in the clinic curative effect reports.Reasonable methods,unified judgements and the therapeutic tools of combined TCM and westen medecine are still expecting.
