The appliances were placed between molars and incisors. The rats were killed on 1 d, 3 d, 7 d, 10 d and 14 d respectively. Histological examinations were performed on all above samples. Conclusions The results indicate that under 40 grams oral administration Chinese herbal medicine or acetaminophen for three days, they affected bone resorption in the short period ,but did not affect bone resorption in the long term, and it might be the analgesic of choice for treating pain associated with orthodontic treatment.
