Clinical Long-term Observation Of Cervical Lateral Mass Screw Fixation Of Cervical Spine Disorders

Objective This study reviewed 148 cases,to discuss the application of cervical lateral mass plate for the posterior operation of the cervical spine.Method 148 cases were reviewed include:107 cases of cervical spine injury, 37cases of cervical spondylosis,4 cases of cervical spine tumor that all cases had been received fixation of lateral mass by the time from Sep 1993 to Dec 2006.we evaluated the nervers function of all cases by ASIA and JOA and follow up reposition and fusion,and so on.Result The follow-up of 132 cases ranged from 4 months to 10 years(with the mean of 31 months).Postoperative x-ray film displaying,fracture and dislocations in all patients were reduced completely and obtained solid bony fusion 6 months postoperatively.ASIA scores of 91 cases having spinal cord injury improved to different degrees:3A-1B,1A;4B-4C,2B;28C-18E,10D;41D-41E.37 cases of cervical spondylosis had got the higher postoperative score of JOA,average 15.8 points.4 patients of cervical tumor,2 cases had good recovery with no recurrence,1case expired in 1 year postoperatively,1 case lost.No severe complications such as injuries of vertebrae artery,nerve root,spinal cord or aggravation of spine cord injury occurred.Conclusion Cervical lateral mass plate is an efficient,reliable treatment.
